X800 xt pe problems....

Hey new guy here just got a few questions. I recently bought a x800 pro vivo with samsung memory. I decided to flash it to x800 xt pe speed with the full 16 pipes. Anyway everything worked fine and seemed stable. I ran 3dmark 2001, 2003, aquamark and played a few games (doom 3, farcry, rome:total war.) everything seemed fine. My problem is for some reason my computer freezes every once in awhile and goes to a blue screen and does a memory dumb then reboots. Anyway I tried underclocking down to x800 pro speeds, but that didn't seem to help.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oh by the way my system specs are
Abit av8 (939)
Amd 64 3500+
Thermal Take silent tower
2x 80gig western digital SATA running in raid (0)
2x 512mb ram generic infinon at cas 2.5
x800 pro flashed to x800 xt PE (500/ 560)
420 wat generic power supply
9 case fans
system temp around 25
cpu temp 35-45
vga temp 37-60 at full load
 
How are you monitoring the temp on your card? Try using ATI tool to adjust the fan to run faster at the higher temps. What drivers are you using? Try uninstalling em the correct way! Uninstall display driver, uninstall control panel, boot into safe mode run drivercleaner etc.. Try using different drivers, such as the Omega 2.5.90's thats what I use and recommend.
 
yeah i use ati tool and run the fan speed at 75-85% all the time. As for the drivers I think i will try the omega drivers and see what happens. Must say though I love this card awesome. Takes anything I throw at it. Thanks for the reply by the way.
 
maybe it's the memory ... since it's generic memory 2.5 might be too much

i also noticed that you're using a 420W generic psu ... i'm using a generic 420w psu too and I'm getting the ultra x-connect 500w this week ... i think that might be the problem ... maybe you're not gettin enough amps on the 12v ... I couldn't run both hard drives and the x800 xt pe and 3 fans at the same time ... i'm thinkin if it's not the memory it might be the psu

check the big sticker and if the amps on the 12v are less than 20A then that might be the problem
 
yeah i think you may be right on that one mohammedtaha. It sems whenever i turn up the fan speed on all my fans it craps out. I'm going to go pick up a new psu today. Thanks for the info guys.

yeah, sounds like the "el cheapo" PSU is likely to blame.....let us know how things go with the replacement.
 
I'm gettin my psu today too .. :D .. can't wait ... Ultra titanium X-connect ... and btw ... if you're planning on gettin one of those .. head over to their website and get the free sata cable too ... why not .. it's free ... I'll tell you how mine went too ...

Can't wait to hear how it goes for you, just like I can't wait to SEE how my 520W OCZ Powerstream does early next week. :D
 
OK i installed my ati silencer and the ultra x-connect last night I'm still waiting for the xp-120 .. i got my 12mm silenX fan .. so far everything is perfect the ultra is BEAUTIFUL !! .. the wiring is AMAZING .. looks very high class and heavy as hell too ... but it's working perfectly fine ... can't wait till next month where I order ocz pc3200 plat. rev 2 and new hard drive ... and finalize my spending on this system until next summer ... although i do feel like a new case and mobo .. oh well .. that can wait till summer and then I'll be gettin an AMD system .. my first and I know i'll be happy and probably by then i'll get the new Ati card :p .. we'll see what happens ..

Ooooh! Thanks for the heads up on that (and, by coincidence, the $50 back offer from them for an Antec PSU)! I just ordered the green UV version of that same power supply, and it's shipping today.
