x800 vanilla BIOS flash

So I've been reading around that the X800 vanillas can _sometimes_ be flashed to an X800XL and have the last pipeline quad unlocked because these cards use exactly the same PCB layout, core and ICs.
Anyone have any experience with this? Info? Ideas?
I'm looking for an upgrade, and a cheapo X800XL would be awesome. Sure beat the hell out of my X700pro....

Honestly, I would spend the xtra 50 or so, and get an x800xl.

Well, it's actually more like $120 from the cheapest X800 van to the XL. I'm on a miniscule budget here. And besides, just getting the better card takes away all of the fun...

Spend the extra $100 for the better card......May as well spend another $100 on the best card...

Sorry to say, the one card is AGP while the other is PCI Xpress. Prices still tend to differ from the two types.
