Anyone running an Intel X5698 in their folding rig?


NM. Just realized this is a 2 Core CPU.
 
interesting chip, just cpu-world'd it and it says there are believed to be 4 more cores on-die that are disabled, would be interesting if they could be unlocked, probably are disabled to get to the high 4.4ghz for those 2 cores though.
 
Was going to say, you do not want that chip, it is 2 core only. I think it would be a fun chip to play with. It was a very limited option in the sell R710, and from my reading, the server fans would run full tilt with that cpu involved and a copper heatsink is also recommended. The R710 ships with alum heatsinks.
 
Sidebar - If anyone sees a Q4EM Xeon (1366 hex), please let me know. I need a second one, and want the set to match.
 
I just put at X5698 in my remote workstation, performed better than my X5650 in crap non-threaded applications like voice recognition and plays nice with the Dell Precision Bios. Its like I overclocked, but didn't. So, it definitely has its uses...
 
I'd like to play with some of these chips.
