OK, I am attempting to go for a max overclock on my X3350 quad core CPU. This is the Xeon version of the Q9450. So far I have managed to get it up to 3.7ghz, and thats pretty stable. I want 3.8.

let me lay down my specs/info.

1.425v Vcore
(cpu-z reports 1.40)
(cpu-z on full load 1.35v)

1.4v FSB
1.5v SPP

GTLVREF 0/0/0/0 (manually set)

Ram 2.1v

questions

1.) Has anyone else gotten close to 3.7 on air on one of these chips? What settings did you use?

2.) GTLvref, I read a few things on this, but for some reason when I set this to 2/3 of my VTT it wont even boot into windows, only way I get stability is to force 0/0/0/0 does this make sense?

3.) what is the max safe voltage for these 45nm chips, am I OK or should I be worried? How bout temps?

4.) and my main question is "WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO GET TO 3.8 AND OR ABOVE?".

oh and in response to your questions.

2) I believe the multiplier (eg. 0.67x on asus boards) is applied to your FSB voltage and the resulting voltage 0.67xVfsb = the Vfsb you want the cpu to see. So if you want the cpu to see a fsb termination voltage of 1.2 you'd do something like: 1.2/0.67 = 1.79. So set Vfsb at 1.79 and GTL ref @ 0.67x.

3) the cpu voltage doesn't really matter too much. the more important voltages to get the thing to boot are NB voltage, FSB voltage, and NB reference.

The problem w/ nvidia based boards, is they dont show a voltage, just something like

lane 1 110mv
lane 2 110mv
lane 3 110mv
lane 4 110mv

The 4GHZ was nice man!, unfortunately, my bios limits my FSB voltage to 1.4, and my SPP to 1.55, so I couldnt hit those voltages even if I wanted.
