I'm looking into an x1900 AIW when I upgrade, mainly because I want the TV tuner options, and it's about $30 cheaper than the XT where I am (almost $100 cheaper if I factor in the TV tuner I'd have to get with the XT).

I'm wondering what kind of a performance increase I'd get with an x1900 AIW clocked to 600/600 (100 MHz/120 MHz overclocks, I read reviews that got much higher than this) over my current x850 XT clocked at 540/540 (40 MHz/40 MHz overclocks)?

Would I see a decent framerate jump in Oblivion at 1024x768, High settings (I get about 22 average, 6 low, 40 high now)? (It's really the only graphically demanding game I play right now, so I don't really care about performance in other games.)
 
i reccomend the AIW, as it is virtually the same card as the x1900xt 256.

as to OB performance there will be a definite hike, and you will be able to play it at higher resolutions with AA. though at 1024x768 you could get the chuck patch and turn on both HDR and AA with like no performnace drop.
 
Anyone else? Does anyone have one of these cards and can testify to it's performance? Also, can it be software voltmoded like the other x1900's can?
 
My buddy and I picked up the AIW1900. He came from an X800XT PE and was surprised by the difference. Easily 30% (very conservative) increase accross the board.
I on the other hand have an X1800XT 512MB and I would say they are very close in performance. I believe many of the benchmarks show the same.
Both of us run them at stock since they are already great performers. Only comment would be that the stock heatsink is quiet but you have slim options on after market cooling, which I recommmend if you plan to overclock. The accelero X series will not work without modification as the tuner housing will hit part of the heatsink. The zalman series should work fine.
One other note is this card is physically long. I believe it's one inch longer than the X1800XT series so make sure your case can handle it.
 
Thanks. I know my case has enough room, and if I begin hardcore overclocking it (i.e. above about 600/600) I'm going to add a custom waterblock to it :p I read a review that got it to around 650/700 on stock cooling, so I'm pretty optimistic on the overclocking scale.
