ComputerHQ.com is listing the Sapphire X1800XT for $532.75 shipped but they don't have any in stock. I called and they have no specific ship date. All they'll say is "after Thanksgiving". Now, they have decent ratings on Froogle (3.5 out of 5 stars) so I feel OK about the company. I guess I'm just wondering if any of you have had any experience w/ComputerHQ.com.

Would you make this purchase if you wanted an X1800XT?

nope. either get a 7800gt or wait for the next gen ati b/c right now anything's a waste of money except for the 7800gt value/wise for high end.
 
Well if he's looking at an XT he obviously doesn't care about best value or he'd get an XL and oc it ! :D They are only what 30-40 dollars more than a 7800gt ?

There are still advantages to an XT over an XL though.

Namely 512mb vram. If you plan on waiting a a couple years to upgrade again, this extra memory will come into play and make quite a difference by next Winter's game season.

That's certainly a nice price on the XT. Who knows when they're getting some in stock ?
I would call them and try and get an estimate. If it's within a few weeks that's one thing but if not till later you may as well regard that price as bogus.

I don't think R580 will be out for at least 5 months.
 
It's the OEM sapphire...which you can get at newegg for $550...so not that great of a deal...if you're after an x1800xt, I recommending clicking the banner in the forums and heading over to newegg...
 
I guess I'll avoid that deal for now. I've heard too many horror stories about people waiting weeks for "out of stock" orders from various vendors. Thanks for the advice.

As far as the X1800XL overclock goes....that sounds like a nice deal but I really was leaning towards a 512MB card as I don't see myself upgrading for a year at the very earliest (I usually wait about two years actually). Heck maybe at that point I'll throw another X1800XT in for Crossfire performance:)

Any word on how the X1800XT overclocks? I saw that a Finnish group got the core over 1GHz w/liquid nitrogen so that seems to indicate a strong performer!

Oh, the X1800XT OEM is at $589.00 at Newegg now:(
