I have seen lots of reviews of XTs with new drivers but I want to know what performance to expect of the X1800XL with the Cat 6.2s.
I want to know if I should hold back and get atleast a X1900XT but since I game at 1280x1024 it shouldnt matter too much anyway.
So if you have the card give me some help or link me to a current review.

I have an XL and all I can say is that it is indeed a bit disappointing. I'm convinced it's better to save up and extra 80 or so and go with XT or go all the way and try catching a x1900xt that can be flashed to xtx. You could also wait for the X1800 GTO (R590) those seems to be much better then the current XL.

yeh it does make a difference with aa+hdr +af :p

however is the price difference is huge increase in cash for you? can you afford it?

I could but with my monitor limitation I dunno if its worth it.
An X1800XL can handle basically any game on the market right now @ 1280x1024 w/ max details (and in any game except FEAR you should also be able to turn on AA and AF as well). A year from now, though, that probably won't be the case and having a X1900 series card would really come in handy even if you're only gaming at 1280x1024.

I personally don't believe that your monitor is going to be a serious problem once some more demanding games come out, so I wouldn't give it too much weight in your decision.

Price to performance, however, is a different arguement totally.

Thanks, I suppose the X1900XT is my card but that requires me to hold on and game with my Shuttle and its weak 6800NU for a little longer. But its worth it and I do want mah AA and AF on. The 7800GT is tempting but I do want the power.

Question, how do you package a Video card so that it is safe from damage in shipping? I have only shipped one GPU before and it was fine but I want to know how you guys do it and same for a CPU I have no idea how to ship a CPU. I am asking here because I dont want to flood the fourm with diffrent threads on this issue but If I have to I will make a new thread.

Well, considering I can play FEAR at 1280x1024 at max details WITH 4x AA and 16X AF with my X850XT PE, I'd assume an X1800XL would be able to do that as well.

the xl stock feels a little slower then the gt but i like ati's look better then nvidia im not gunn get into shimmering debate, it just looks better at 85 hz on my 21" crt then my 7800gt, however when overclcoccked to 600/600 the x1800xl gets a hell of an increase, like literally 25% from 500/500 and i game at 1600x1200 with no problems in all games, the only game i dont is fear whichi do 1280x960 with 2xaa because i like fps over 40 at all times. Id recommend the xl, im only selling mine to get an x1800xt

Thanks guys, after the slow Ebaying process I think I will save more money for the X1900, allthough knowing my impulsive ways it will be the X1800XL or XT. I win in every case.
