I've had the case for about 2 months now, and I've heard that some people have had problems with the 500w PSU that came with it. As of about 2 weeks ago my computer would shut off when the cpu got hot. I noticed it shutting off at about 36c cpu full load, so I adjusted the settings in the BIOS. It continued to happen, but I wasn't using my pc as much lately so ignored it. Now anytime I play any game, ut2k4, generals, etc ... my cpu core gets to about 36c and it powers down. I've come to the conclusion that its my PSU taking a dump.

In my head I'm almost sure its that craptastic PSU that came with it. But I figured I'd get some last minute advice from the [H]orde.

what do you guys think ??

I don't think temps will have anything to do with your PSU shutting off. They aren't high enough to do anything. You PC is probably shutting off do due a faulty PSU, which has no bearing on temps. Even if the PSU seemed to be working fine, I'd replace it and get something trustworthy. Your problems certainly could be caused by a shitty PSU not being able to handle the load.

i dont think that guy is right to be honest i dont think its a bad cpu that seems like to quick of a judgement i would check out your card configuration first it may be the video card i was having similar problems and i gave my gffx 5900 a little room and it has been running great ever also it could be a safety feature on the motherboard in bios or in a software program in your OS check these out if they do not work make the company help you through it i mean you paid for the thing i believe it is their responsibility that it works to your expectations

Well I was first thinking my HSF was a piece, until I started to wonder if my PSU was failing. So what I've come to find was when my cpu got to a certain temp it would die, i figured it was trying to draw more power from the PSU and thats the problem. I'm headed to frys tonight to pickup ye ol trust PSU and some other things, sucks tho cuz I'm going to have to rewire my entire case again :/

i bought one of those aspire 500w by itself.

used it in my amd rig when i had it was nothing but rock solid.

maybe your temps are not being displayed correctly?

Well I read that lots of people had problems with that PSU. It looks great and I checked the rails.. they're off a bit. Either way my pc is fine, until I load any game, then 5 min, it powers down. Its getting worse everyday. Its NOT my vcard, its not anything but either the HSF or the PSU. And because its getting worse everyday, Im leaning towards PSU.
