so i've been pretty disappointed with my onboard sound. i have decent speakers and its always pretty much sounded like theres a pillow over them. when i hooked them directly up to the ipod its like a 100% improvement. my question is how have the drivers evolved for vista. i read that it is compatible but then i read about some alchemy thing you have to download for it to work. what do you guys think?

For Direct sound games you have to use Alchemy and copy the Dsound.ini and Dll to the main game .exe folder and it will collect the DS calls and convert them to openAL.
as for the drivers it depends on the person. some people there working great for some there aernt.

the extremegamer is capable of 7.1 output. it can only input (record) 2 channels.
