x-fi & vista: "this device cannot start"

I'm running vista 32 bit, and I just installed an x-fi xtreme music, and I get the error message "this device cannot start". I've tried uninstalling the card and drivers and then reinstalling them, and that hasn't worked. I've googled and did a quick search of this forum and didn't come up with anything helpful either.

Anyone have any suggestions?

well, I just switched pci slots, and now it's working :/

I'd like to test it out in bioshock but I'm getting a failed to contact key server error and can't even play that

Oh, and I just thought I'd throw out that UPS damaged my new case in transit and Sprint is currently charging me for a phone I never bought. It's been a shitty week.
