ok... I've recently gotten an ATI x850 pro, but on the side there is a sticker that says

RAD X850XT AGP 256M D/V/VIVO

the box says pro, but the sticker says that... anyone able to work this delima out?

I'm trying to sell the card, but I want to keep it in the shrink wrap so people know its brand new. What should I trust... the box or the sticker?

I assume the sticker is on shrink wrap?
if that's the case..probably the store mislabeled it...
so you have 850pro Vivo.
however AGP 850pro vivo cards are known to be unlocked for 16 pipes (850XT)...so in a way...you have x850xt card if you can manage to overclock it to xt speed( which will be very easy)

sorry about that... I wouldn't have asked if it was on the shrinkwrap :)

Its under it.

Boot up ATITool and see what your card is recognized as. It could be an X850XT mistakenly packed into an X850Pro box. :D

i want to leave it shrinkwrapped though... thats the whole point

Sell it for what you bought it as, a Pro. That way you don't have to hear the complaints if you mislead someone into thinking they got better than they paid for, but if it is an XT, they will be that much happier.

No way of knowing for sure without taking it out. If you try selling it as an X850XT and someone says "Hey, this is a pro!" you'll just end up pissing someone off and looking bad.

You could be lucky. I remember i bought some cosair ram for idk how much but i ended up with a Stick of pc3200 XMS with 2-2-2-5 timings, compared to the stick i ordered with 3-3-3-8! I was presently suprised. The price difference was over 40 dollats too.

i would think taking it out the shrink wrap to make sure it works properly would be justifiable (sp?)

Take the card out of the box test it out and get the facts for yourself. Once you are done take some shrinkwrap and a hairdryer and reshrinkwrap your whatever it really is card then sell it ;). There you go good as new and most people won't be able to tell the difference.

I would take it out and test it, but definitely not sell as 'new'... just opened to identify it and test the card... Then you can gaurantee no DOA, and sell it for what it is.

i just bought an x850 pro (havent installed it yet), and saw this thread, and looked at the box, on the side of the box, on the upc spot it clearly says "rad x850xt agp 256M d/v/vivo"

guess i need to pop it in and test

Take a picture of it, someone on this forum must identify some landmark on it. Whats the board manufacturer?
