Hi all, im thinking of setting up a gigabit network in a small business, but have already got an existing 100mbps setup with router and all. Because i cant seem to be able to find any Gigabit Cable Routers (here in Aus anyway) so i was wondering if it would work if i bought a gigabit switch and some gb cards and connected all the comps to the GB switch first, then connected the switch to the router?
would this allow all the comps on the GB switch to function at 1000mbps between each other and only be limited to 100mbps when accessing the internet via the router? or would all the packets of info sent between the Switch comps be passed thru the router and thus slowing down to 100mps?
If so, can anyone suggest how i can get this working using the existing router?
Cheers,
