Hey guys.

I am wondering. Would it give me a performance boost in terms of opening up programs and just making processes a bit faster if I upgrade from 2x80GB IDE 2MB Seagate Hard Drives to a SATA Hard Drive?

SATA itself isnt really any faster than an IDE drive, unless you are using an old IDE33 one. If you have the cash, upgrade to a 74Gb raptor - that really will be faster than your old ones :) I switched from a 120Gb IDE Maxtor to one and its a noticable difference.
 
the IDE>SATA is faster... by what margin is debatable.

2MB>8MB cache is also a signifigant jump.

If you need a new drive, there's no reason not to go with SATA.
 
My drive is working perfectly. Just wanted to upgrade. I doubt that I can afford those Raptor drives.

How much do you think I can get for 2x80GB 2MB Seagate IDE drives?
 
That sounds good. I was thinking of just straight trading with some guy for 120GB SATA drive or something.
