my birthday is coming up in a few days and what i really want is a digital camera. my budget will be at most around $250-$260. im new to digital photography, but have some experience with 35mm film. i had an old 1.3mp camera i messed around with, but that had automatic everything.

my mom has a real nice old SLR that our whole family uses. one thing i want in the digital camera is to be able to have manual control over some things. i really want a camera that has good quality photos. ive been looking at the canon powershot a60, it comes with a nice package of goodies for $260 on ebay.

i dont really know what else to tell you about what i want...ask questions if you need to and ill respond. thanks!

128mb CF card, rechargable batteries and charger, canon soft case, mini tripod, lens cloth, and CF card reader. ill look around and see if i could get those things + the camera from newegg for cheaper.

-------

edit: i priced stuff out on newegg. if i were to buy the stuff off ebay, id also end up buying a nice camera bag, which would run me about $15-$20. that would bring the price of everything to $280.

on newegg, i can get the camera, 128mb crucial CF card, rechargable batteries + charger, usb 2.0 CF card reader, and a sony leather camera bag for $291.

i get the for $10 less, i get a mini tripod and a lens cloth. im gonna go with the package off ebay.

no offense but let me get this straight, youd rather spend 10 dollars less on ebay than shop at newegg?

Ya, this seems strange to me as well. With ebay you are running a risk. Newegg on the other hand sells quality parts and has easy RMA's. I would go with newegg on this one if I were you.

dell.com has the a60 and if you snag a 10% code you can get it for $199 - 10% = $180 w/ free shipping and no tax...just a thought...plus i think dell sells all the accesories too...

Go with Newegg because if you ever have a problem in the first year you can deal with them. With ebay you would have to deal with Canon directly.

Ebay is good for old items, I wouldn't really buy new ones unless it was impossible for me to get them at that good of a price.

Cheers,
