worth upgrading?

not unless you want to hand me down the 2600 to something else that needs it. you're probably better off getting a new GPU and a 120hz monitor.

you havent told us what you're doing with the PC, playing games? what gpu do you have? what resolution?

in 95% of the cases it wouldn't be worth it anyways, like Dephcon said.

Since it's a non-K to a 4770K, you'll see enough gains.
Would be a different story if the OP had a decently OCed 2600K.

Even the non-k can be overclocked to it's turbo frequency of 3.8GHz and considering several folks only having success up to 4.2GHz with the 4770k, I'd say no, not worth it. If it was a drop-in replacement or you could actually make good use of the new platform features, maybe. But strictly for the CPU gains, not so much.

If you bought the 2600 for virtualization then don't get the 4770K - it doesn't have VT-d like the 2600.
