Worried about cpu temps...

Ok, I just put together a new system with some left over parts from my old system (check sig below), but I'm worried about my cpu's temperature. The case temperature is at 28C, but my non-OCed cpu's temperture is 51C at load. I've started to OC it a little (+200mhz), but my mobo's heat alarm goes off--it's set at 60C. My HSF's fan is a Vantec Stealth 92mm, which my bios hardware monitor tells me that it's spinning at 1520 RPMs. Do the temps seem high and do the RPMs seem low? BTW, I am using artic silver 3. Thanks.

are you sure your heatsink is making good contact with your processor? also make sure you put a very thin layer of thermal paste, a lot of it will block heat transfer.
 
Neither of the above suggestions I feel are the correct responses. First off the vantec stealth line of fans are case fans not cpu fans. Thus they spin at a low rpm to be quite. Additionally the 92mm fan is a poor choice to put on a processor since the dead spot is actually quite a bit larger than that of the dead spot on the 80mm fan. This has been proven at amdmb with the tornado line of fans.

Your load temperature of 51C is a tad high but not too high. First thing to look into is what is called the DELTA T meaning what is the rise above ambient. Meaning that if your room is 28C and your case temp is usually a few C above that you are not in that bad of a position. What my guess is happening since 200mhz is fack all for a speed increase especially if you are not increasing the Vcore to achieve this then it is a fan problem. Meaning that your heatsink is able to transfer the heat from the processor to the heat sink and then to the air within the case. Now if you are not gettting that hot air out of the case as fast as it is being outputted by the heatsink into the case then you are having a buildup of heat into the case leading to higher temperatures inside. I think this may be the cause since a 9C difference in temperature from only a 200mhz increase without any Vcore additions is sounding like thier is something really wrong. Additionally as mentioned before a good aftermarket thermal paste will be able to drop your temperatures up to 10C depending on what you are using now.

Thus, change your cpu fan, add more case fans and check what themal paste you are using artic silver 5 is the best with artic ceramic good for non voiding your warranty due to its non conductive nature.
 
Thanks for the info. I have a 120mm panaflo that I might try, otherwise I see what a decent 80mm cpu fan can do.
