Well my 2500k won't manually oc. It will oc genie to 4.2, but if I set the same settings it posts but hangs ole fore windows load screen. I have been on the msi forums, tried multiple bios, and know working settings. No go.

Tried turbo oc. Set turbo to 48, to see what happens, it only ramps to 34. They suggested pulling CPU and checking for bent pins. All looks good. CPU stayed stuck to my d-14, should I reseat it? There is no more retention bracket on mobo, as the d-14 removes it for their bracket.

What do you think?

Also no temp issues even at 4.2 oc genie.

Could raise multi with control center to 49 till it locked up. But that's on the fly so I know it will run at 48, as I had ibt and prime priority 10 torture running

Also have tried going down to 8gb (currently running 8gb) and no change. Auto also wants to pump 1.75 to my ram.

Sounds like a bad BIOS setting. Have you tried loading the optimized defaults? Then, with everything left to Auto, increasing the Turbo Multiplier to 42, and see if that works.
 
I tried defaults, I boot with oc genie @ 4.2, note all settings, enter manually. No boot. Tried 1.4 vcore..

Now reseat is letting me oc. Turbo oc won't work. But manual is. Gonna see how high it will enter windows at. Then clock it back.
 
For something as low as 4.2, you really should be able to leave everything on Auto except for the turbo multipliers. You shouldn't have to be copying any settings from the OC Genie software (or even use it).
 
I wasnt using turbo OC, as it wasnt working for me. No matter what I entered, and no matter how much stress I put on the system it capped at 34x. I was doing manual OC, I can get into windows at 4.8, but get BSOD 124, which seems to be a hardware issue, generally suggested that its HDD, or Ram. Id tend to think its my 4x4GB sticks of Ram, as 4 slots is harder to OC with on SB I have heard.

When I entered in the stock voltages for SA, GPU, CPU I/O, it smartened right up. As with everything auto, I couldnt get into windows at 35-36x (as low as I testes). My reported I/O voltage was 1.34 from bios, the options dont even go that high. Though I have seen this MSI board in auto say its giving some crazy volts. Ill measure with a multimeter, but I gotta replace some fuses in my meter (hope its fuses), lent out my cal gear, and now multimeter doesnt work, and its a 627 fluke, so thats $2400-2500. Better be the fuses lol.
 
Why are you removing the retention system for the CPU? Instructions and reviews never remove it. There is a lot of force used to hold the CPU on all those pins.
 
Hmm, thats a good question. I recall the printed instructions telling me to remove the stock plate with 1155, re-reviewing it, it seems it doesnt. Well reviewing the online updated version listing 1155. Guess ill put that back on then.
