Won't boot after working fine

I've just built a machine for my brother.
The specs are:
DFI Ultra Infinity II
XPM2500@2.2
512 Samsung PC3200
Saphire 9600XT
Maxtor 30gig

Everything was working fine. I let prime95 run for 14 hrs. I let 3dmark 2001 run for 1 hour.
The last thing I installed was Doom3 and DirectX 9.0b. After I went to reboot, it just hangs where it says "Verifying DMI pool data." I tried resetting the CMOS - nothing. I tried different settings and voltages - nothing. I've run this chip for the last 8 months at 2.4ghz@1.85v with no problem. I ran prime at 2.2@1.55v with no problem. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the hard drive, I get no beep errors. There's nothing to indicate that something's wrong, except not booting. I don't know what to do.

Here's what I would do:

Set it in the BIOS to boot to the hard drive first.
Did that work?

Set it to boot to CDROM first. After you put a bootable CD in (Xp, whatever)
Did that work?

What happens on each?

I tried your suggestions with no luck. I decided to take a closer look at some of my BIOS settings, specifically my hard drive. When I took a look, I noticed that it was set in CHA. WTF?!? I changed it back to LBA and BAM! It works. Problem solved. I'd just like to know how it changed settings.

Can I get a "Woot Woot"!

Glad your problem is solved.
Now let's go have a beer!
