wireless routers and pcmcia cards

will one brand wireless router work with a different brand of pcmcia card? dont wanna buy something that will be incompatible

Yeah, pretty much - though there are some situations where this is not so, but from my experiences they I have not seen many problems.

At home - Linksys router - Linksys PCMCIA cards, and one Intel.
Here at apartment - Netgear router - Intel wireless card, one Linksys I think, and one other one.

If you go to www.tigerdirect.com they have wireless d-link routers for like $10.00 after rebate. Im sure they have $10.00 pcmcia cards there too.

They are supposed to interoperate, as 802.11a,b&g are all standards based at this point. HOWEVER.... in the real world it sometimes isn't quite so nice. There should not be any major issues, but I tend to try to stick to one manufacturer on a network, just for safety's sake.
