as far as i know, the drivers are not in the bios of the ASUS A7N8X Deluxe.

so when i go to install windows xp sp2 onto a sata drive, is there anyway i can get windows xp sp2 the sata controller drivers without a floppy disk.

could i copy the drivers onto a burnt xp disc? could i swap the cd for a cd with the drivers at the right time?

should i just find a floppy drive, and go to a bunch of garage sales and look for some diskettes? :D

i think u should get yourself an old floppy drive, they are cheap, 1 buck or 2 !!

If you have another PC you can slipstream the drivers onto the CD. Look around, there are TONS of guides on how to do this.

Also, in your motherboard's BIOS, you may be able to turn on SATA to compatability mode or IDE mode, in which case windows won't need drivers to see it.

I just got my new sata drive and I did that first but windows install only detected it as 127gb instead of 250gb so I was only able to create a 127gb partition and nothing else. Had to dig around in the garage for a floppy drive and disk :p

This floppy disk worked to see all 250GB? It sounds like you had a pre-XP SP1 install disk since SP1 was needed to recognize drives larger than 137GB. 127GB would be about the size Windows would see after format.

Yep preSP1 install worked fine and it saw all 250gb with the floppy. I should probably do that slipstream thing for next time.

Definitely slipstream a CD so that this doesn't happen again.

Sweet im gonna save your guide for whenever I get around to making a slipstream cd.
