Windows XP Recognizing Incorrect Drive Size

I just recently put together a new system (AMD 3200, 1 gig pc3200 ram, DFI lanparty mobo,) and when I attempted to install windows xp, it recognized a new 160gb hd as only 130gb. I figured it was just a flaw, so I formatted it, let the windows installer do the partition, and installed windows. Then, in windows, the drive did show up as being a 130gb.

Now, what could the problem be? Does the problem lie with the drive itself, or am I missing something? I know that earlier versions of windows wouldn't recognize drives larger than 120gb, but could this be a similar case?

XP pre-SP1 does not recognize drives larger than 137GB. Assuming your mobo supports a drive that size, you will need to install SP1, then enable a setting in the registry to enable Large draives, tehn go to disk manager to claim the extra space.

For more info, read the sticky at the top of the forum. There is an extensive article about it posted in there.
