Hi all,
I have ThinkPad W500 laptop and I recently installed & update to Windows 7, from windows XP.
After the installation I found two improper functions.
1) USB port. When I connected my USB pen-drive and then stopped from taskbar, I get the message saying it si now safe to remove the USB. But the indicator LED on the USB pen-drive won't go off. With the XP, when I stopped the USB by clicking the USB icon on the Taskbar the LED on the USB pen-drive went off before the message came, "It is safe to remove...".
I am concern to remove the USB since the light is still on.
Any idea what can cause this problem.
2) After the OS 7 update I realised my Canon Powershot S80 digital camera did not recognise by the canon Software (when the camera was connected to the laptop) which I worked fine with XP.
I then installed Windows XP Mode and Virtual PC from Microsoft website.
According to the the Microsoft website, the USB devices can operate in two modes, one is Attached (exclusively in Windows XP VM -Virtual Machine) mode and Release (shared between Host and Windows XP VM ) mode.
That means in the Attached mode the USB device is exclusivley available to the Windows XP VM and in the Release mode the USB device is available on both the Host and XP VM.
In my laptop it is working completely in the opposite way.
In the Release mode I can not see the USB device in my laptop (host). But it is visible in the XP VM. On the other hand in the Attach mode, the USB device is visible and available in both Host and XP VM although it should only be available to XP VM.
Any help to resolve this?
Thanks
