Windows Installer is retarded, need help ?

Windows Installer is not letting me install the java2 software for limewire nor will the windows installer service actually start.

I get this error when starting the service...





I get this error when trying to install the java2 platform software for limewire.






I tried the fix below for windows installer but still nothing.
1. Log on to your computer as an administrator.
2. Click Start, and then click Run.
3. In the Open box, type cmd, and then click OK.
4. At the command prompt, typemsiexec.exe /unregister, and then press ENTER.
5. Type msiexec /regserver, and then press ENTER.
6. Verify that the SYSTEM account has full control access permissions to the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT hive in the Windows registry. In some cases, you may also have to add Administrator accounts. To do so:Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.
a. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
b. Click the following registry hive:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
c. On the Edit menu, click Permissions.
d. If SYSTEM is not listed in the Group or user names list, click Add, make sure that the local computer name appears in the From this location box, type system in the Enter the object names to select box, click Check Names, and then click OK.
e. Click SYSTEM in the Group or user names list, and then select the Full Control check box under Allow in the Permissions for SYSTEM box.
f. Click Apply, click OK, and then quit Registry Editor.

I get this error when I try to reinstall windows installer.






and yes The cryptographic service is running
 
Method 1 just doesn't work


Method 2 doesn't work, I get this





Method 3 doesn't work, I get this




Method 4 was the first thing I tried and it doesn't work. I get this




Method 5 doesn't work, I'm assuming that ccleaner will clean those folders and it doesn't help with the problem


Method 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 I didn't try. Doesn't seem to be helpful

Check if there pending installation/s:

a. Empty "InProgress" Registry Key

Check the following registry key:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\InProgress

and clean any entries that you find.

b. Empty/Rename "PendingFileRenameOperations" Registry Key:

Check the following registry key:

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\PendingFileRenameOperations

and clean any entries that you find.

InProgress was not there.


HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\PendingFileRenameOperations



Bot sure what's saying to get rid of.




Anyways, not getting anywhere
 
Holy crap, I got it


It turns out to be my own fault as well.

I deleted system from the c:\ security tab.
As soon as I added it back, windows Installer started working


I'm an idiot, I know
