Hi, I installed a new wd 120gb hd as a slave to my wd 40gb through my secondary IDE and when I boot it boots into windows, yet the second drive cannot be seen. I can see it in the device manager, but nowhere else. When I try to "add new hardware" its a no show, please help. Thank you

if it has software, use it and make sure the master and slave

"Did you create a partition and format the hard drive?"

Doh, sure didnt, but I just did, thank you! Iam such an idiot
the motherboard is an intel D865GRH
OS is windows xp home

You know I stupidly thought "plug it in and it will be there" I geuss I was just used to so much usb shit. Thank you!

If you go into computer management through winXP, you probably should have been able to see it, even if it wasn't formatted. It would just show up as a "healthy" drive. from there you can manage it. *i think, don't hold me to that.

you are correct on that, I was able to format and partion from the management window, thanks

p.s - I am always amazed at how helpful the people on this board are, I am suprised that in this day and age this isnt a pay service :)

p.p.s - I am being honest
