windows 7 system disk failure question

same question as my ZFS one but different OS. If I have 2 x 2 TB drives spanned into 1 x 4 TB setup.........and the main system disk fails...do I lose my data in the span or is the important information held within the spanned drives not the system drive?


Had drive 1 go bad on my main rig (which spurred the need to ask the zfs question in my other thread)

Drive 2 and 3 hold my movies and music etc...and are seen as 1 drive (spanned dynamic)

would rather not lose them but not too big of a deal...was just curious.
 
It seems to me you are using the terms volume, array and disk interchangeably.
 
A span is not dependent on the OS in windows or in linux, zfs ... Meaning if the os dies you should be able to add the span to a new install. Although I would avoid spanning non raided volumes since the risk of loosing all of your data (if either drive dies) is not usually worth having a second mount.

Spanned dynamic means windows software RAID0. That's not really recommended. Why would you do that at all for movies and music ?
