I was taking a look at a friends computer because it was full of spyware. I cleaned it up and it was running great, so I did a windows update. It had been awhile since they had updated and so I downloaded and installed around 40 updates. One of the updates failed but I didn't think anything about it and rebooted.

Now when it comes to the Windows 2000 boot screen the progress bar goes about half way then stops. The moving bar that goes to the right while windows boots up also stops and the num lock light turns off. This is followed by about a minute of heavy hard drive activity then silence.

I am able to boot up in safe mode but it doesn't matter how many times I reboot it I can't get it back into windows normally.

Anyone have any ideas?
