window 7 lock ups

So i own a gateway 6800 o1e desktop and Last night i put windows 7 on it and now my computer randomly locks. It locks up up to the that i have to hold down the power button and restart it.

So my question is how can I check what is causing these locks up? I'm pretty sure its not due to heat. I check my temps are they are all within spec. Thanks for any help!

update:
OK it keeps doing it. Just randomly while surfing the net using opera Boy is it frustrating. There is no blue screen. No error. Just locks right up. I roll backed my video drivers to a older ver and it still happens. So odd. I can play COD black ops for 5 hours straight but yet i surf the net and it locks up

Where should I start in trouble shooting this? thanks!
