win200pro install and move harddrive

Is it possible to take a harddrive out of a laptop and hook it up to a pc format the drive and then install win2000pro on it. Then take it out of the PC and put it back in the laptop and it boot. The reason I ask is because I have a laptop with no cd-rom, floppy, usb boot device, or anything.

Don't know for a fact but I suspect that you'd have decent luck with it.

Remember - on the first boot, the installer copies everything to the HDD and then reboots. I think that, if you put the drive in the lappy after the system shuts down & before it first boots off the HDD you'd have the best luck getting hardware properly recognized.
