Firstly, I have a Alienware M11x R1 with a clean Windows 7 Ultimate install and Win XP mode installed on it. I am using this setup to access a legacy dos program for my work. My wireless nic is a DW1520 wireless-N.
When I first installed Win XP mode on the laptop, I switched the the XP mode'[s setting networking adapter to use my wireless card to access the network. Integration features were all selected and it was set to auto. XP mode was able to connect to the server pc to access the internet and the network. I had access to the dos program and all worked.
My problem is this:
After about 1 month with unchanged settings, the wireless card no longer works in XP mode. It works fine in Win 7. It gets no access of any kind and says the nic card is disconnected. I tried updating the wireless nic drivers in Win 7 with new drivers by Dell and when that produced no results I reinstalled the original drivers with no change. I even tried to uninstall and reinstall XP mode which also did nothing.
Changing the networking adapter to NAT gains me internet access but, of course, is useless to me since I lose access to the network.
I am atm at a loss in what to do. Did a Windows 7/XP mode update break this feature? I tried searching but showed no results.
If ya need more info from me, let me know. Any help is appreciated.
