Win XP - Flashlight repeated forever on My Computer

Can anyone tell me why when i open My Computer, all i get is the scrolling back and forth flashlight at the folder? I can open all subdirectories of drive C, my CDRW and DVD ROM seem to be working.

Fresh install as of last night, I have video, sound, motherboard, and printer drivers set up. The last thing i set up before it started acting up is the printer driver. I don't see the relation.

Have you tried removing the printer software and drivers.? Typically when this happens on a fresh install it is related to a hardware device that is having problems. I have seen modem drivers, nic drivers and any piece of hard ware cause this issue. Start with the obvious and go from there.
 
Could be My Computer is looking on the network for shares. Try Tools-->Folder Options-->Browse for Shares (or something like that)

Uncheck the box for it and reboot
