Done a reformat and decided to purchase / install windows 10 pro and since going with 10 ive been plagued with BSOD. What really got me shity was 75% exp debuff for "leaving" games while playing overwatch.

I looked into it and it turns out win 10 doesnt like overclocked CPUs ? Wtf.

I was running 4770k at 4.8ghz ever since it came out on win7 no worries. Even hit 5ghz, but failed halfway through stress didnt want to go all cray on big volts.

So now i got it running stock speed and no BSOD. System has massive watercooling loop cpu and gpu, so temps are not an issue. Latest bios on z87 deluxe & 780.

Anyone had any similar issues?
I havent tried mild OC yet.

Added a pic :) coz everyone likes pics.

try reinstalling w10 with everything stock then turn your OC back up. its possible that your oc isn't 100% stable and something is getting corrupted during install.

Sounds like you merely thought your OC was stable. Different OSes and software stress hardware in a variety of ways. Win 10 is exposing something with your 4.8GHz settings.

But if something was getting corrupted during the install, something could get corrupted during use... Stuff like this is the difference between people who have actual stable PCs, and people who declare their overclock "good enough" as long as it doesn't crash too much.

WTF? Your computer looks like an LED Theme Park.

I presumed the OP is a 15 year old girl after checking out the pic. She's got a taste for flair! ;)

well if its unstable during file copying/install then dlls and shit can get screwed up, install at stock and theres no corruption. I have had this happen several times on several different platforms when I have forgotten to revert to stock or at least lower the oc. in my experience, turning the oc back up after install has never caused corruption. BSODs yes but not bad files.
this is just what I have experienced over 20ish years of OCing.

edit: now that I think about it yes I have had corruption from OCs after a stock install but that stopped after XP and it was only very occasionally. I cant even remember the last time it happened...

I'm with you on the 20 years, though to me if I can't install an OS at certain settings, it's unstable. Never know when you might feel the itch to reinstall Windows again :D

yeah but when you build a system how are you supposed to know whats stable before you have an OS installed? you cannot just crank it up and hope for the best. IF you have you OS installed and IF your OC is 100% stable then installing windows with that OC enabled should not be an issue. I have done that as well. the last time I reloaded my w10, more that a year and a half ago, it was done with my old fx-4100 OCd to 4560 because I know it was stable. but when I first built the system I started with everything stock and worked my way up. that rebuild was not by choice though... I try to reload as little as possible and just keep my system clean.

I know, I know. I was trying to smooth over our gentlemanly disagreement with the smilie. OP should try what you suggested.

yeah we are both agreeing that he needs to back off the oc at least until he get windows on. :)
hopefully he tries that and get it going.
good luck OP!

Hahaha. I loled out at led comments. Its just from the thermaltake fans. Out of sync. Looks better as single colour but colourfull chaos adds more depth to pictures.
Im from motherboards with jumpers and unlocking amd cpu's with HB pencil era. So not quite 15 ;)

Interesting point about installing windows with OC'd pc. I reformat see how it goes.

lol why would you think windows 10 is not stable with over clocks lol?:) Nice looking rig there imo but that kind of a noobish question. Since your having issues, complete the entire install before testing for stability. You were likely mostly stable before but when there riding that close eventually it tends to get worse, and ya just got to dial it back a notch.( not ot mention the room temps are getting hotter) I started of running 4.6 with about 1 crash a week...then 4.4 with about 1 crash a month......but 4.2 is bullet proof all year. You get to thinking since it goes a hole week stable it will stay good forever but it wont. Also depending on how it crashes, sometime it just the memory speed or timings.

I've had it at same settings for over 2 and half years it has seen some very hot days currently its winter in Australia. Also i forgot all the changes i have done since its been that long. When i done reinstall of windows, it never crossed my mind the system was OC"d thats how stable it was.

I will agree with you...when it really is a stable overclock its not necessary to adjust the clocks for reinstalling......cause lord knows i never do these days. Only reason for the suggestion is because your crashing now lol
