Will WinXP w/o SP2 recognize my new hdd...?

Hi guys,

My computer is in need of a major reformat. I bought a brand new 250 gig hdd because my 80 gig is full. I wanted to intall my 250 gig hdd, format it, move all my files from my 80 gig hdd onto the new 250 gig one and then reformat the 80 gig one and re-install windows.

BUT....I have heard that w/o service pack 2, XP will not recognize a 250 gig harddrive..

Is this true?

Without SP1, it will not recognize the entire disk. However, it's a moot point, because there's no excuse not to have SP2 slipstreamed into your disc so you have SP2 right away. Google Autostreamer if you need to know how to do this.

Thanks...I have SP1 so I should be ok...?

I will slipstream SP2 onto my WinXP copy this time around. Thanks for the tip!
