Will using TV tuner with LCD panel cause damage

Will using TV tuner (where one switches between the PC and TV) damage the LCD panel. The reason I ask is that I used a good brand TV tuner made to work with a PC but within days the Philip LCD panel packed up. My dealer changed the LCD panel but remarked that the video output from the tuner and switching between the PC and tuner were too much for the panel (the tuner was USB connected to PC and the panel was connected to PC as usual). I'm puzzled and will not dare to use the tuner with the replaced panel for the fear of it being damaged again. What do folk think?

i think the dealer either doesn't know what he is talking about or thinks you were using a separate tvtuner that wasn't built for a computer, and are directly connecting it into the monitor. i don't know about your tvtuner, but when i turn mine on, a box comes up within windows that contains the tv signal. i can move it around, expand it, shrink it, put it in the background, etc.
