Hey guys,

I was just putting graphics cards into the systems I'm building and well noticed that the coolers look rather restricted by the sound card.

Normally in a full size system I wouldn't worry too much about it as there is a lot more airflow moving around. But I'm not sure if it may cause overheating issues in a SFF case?

3870 w/ Zalman - Not much I'd be able to do about this one as I don't want to buy a new card for mine other than remove the sound card, which I'd prefer not to do. But if it's between the sound card and my graphics card cooking...
5770 Pic2 - The fan is partially exposed so it should be able to draw cool air in, but something a bit longer like a GTX260 would completely clear the sound card.

Will it cause cooling to be worse? yes. Will it be an issue? I doubt it unless you keep your house at 90 all day :)

Wanted to make sure I didn't kill off my trusty 3870. I bought it when it first came out and don't feel like I've gotten my $200 out of it yet ;) Gets kind toasty as is in a normal case so I may have to experiment with getting it more fresh air.

At least the 5770 is a cooler running card to start with.
 
I mean, the card is meant to have a card next to it. What kinda case do you have again? Is there any fan blowing directly on the card?
 
The case with the 3870 in it is a SG01. I'm thinking of flipping the exhaust on the top to be an intake as that would feed cool air right into the card.

Though I'll not be gaming much on it, so I probably shouldn't be too worried about the heat as it idled at a decent enough temp.
