Im buying a laptop from www.ibuypower.com and i was wondering if i would be able to put a normal desktop harddrive in a laptop or are they differnt or smaller?, if so where can i buy them?
 
No. Laptops use 2.5" internal drives and their connections are different than the ones found on a 3.5" desktop hard drive. (Although you can buy an adapater to use a notebook hard drive with a desktop system).

If the laptop already comes with a hard drive (it likely does), you may be better off buying an external USB 2.0 (or if your laptop has it, firewire) hard drive. You can buy a pre-fabbed one or for a little less money buy an enclosure and a regular desktop internal hard drive. This will give you space to store your files etc. and the USB 2.0 and Firewire enclosures tend to run reasonably fast and should serve your needs well.
