Will Fermi fold onceits released?

TRUEs are for SR2, I've got everything now except the last 3 sticks of RAM (already have 3) and the mobo itself

I wonder if you could use a TRUE on a GPU....

Last I heard Atlas is thinking of stepping up to 480's

there's also some rich kid who builds over priced computers for his rich family, and they all bought 480's, 10 of them, and were all running quad sli 295s so they sent back all 20 295's to this rich kid

He's got 22 in a rack, every one water cooled, and running to a chevy radiator outside. As if we didn't have enough to worry about already lol

we got any rich kids here? :)

Which rich kid is this? 22 295s get almost 400k ppd, there are about 5 usernames that currently produce that amount.

He's not up yet, he's only got 4 going, it's a guy at evga, but his folding name isn't his username I think

can't remember where I seen it, I think the CC thread not sure

that's gonna be one heavy hitter if he gets it all going (and he's legit)

I just wanna see how he ties all the WC into a chevy radiator lol

He better hope that thing doesn't leak, or that he is home if it does leak.

Update from Dr Pande:

Support for GTX 4xx hardware

We have been working behind the scenes to optimize the Folding@home GPU client for the new NVIDIA GTX 4xx hardware. So far, it's been going well with us hitting some strong performance numbers. We are internally testing this and hope to soon (weeks) release this for outside beta testing. Please note that GTX 4xx support will require a new client and also requires some changes to our cluster backend software.

Interesting. Surprised that the new GPU microarchitecture is that huge a transition for Stanford and their software. Looking forward to the new client.

I wouldn't be too worried about it. If he tested all the plumbing before he started, then I doubt it'll fail on him. A lot of people have water-cooled rigs, and they don't fail very often at all.

Yes, but what if the radiator leaks or the water pump fails? Even when it happens on a car, it isn't pretty. A coolant loss as a result or pump failure would be devastating. I've had to good fortune to experience one of each on an older car, and it wasn't pretty.

If the water pump fails, and he's out (or even if he's in) then he'll most likely say goodbye to all his cards on that loop. Unless he has more than 1 pump built in. Which is a fairly smart idea for a loop that's got about $2000 worth of hardware wired on. If a radiator starts leaking, that's not so bad, if he's got a reservoir. It just means that he'll eventually run out of water. If he doesn't have a reservoir, that's when things start to get interesting. But it's still not all that problematic.
