It is pretty funny to see how this gets reported all over the world while Nintendo has no intention what so ever to introduce a new system while their current system is still breaking records.

Talk of the Wii HD first emerged late last year when Nintendo’s lead designer Shigeru Miyamoto admitted that HD is becoming increasingly important to consumers.

Indeed, analyst Michael Pachter has become notorious for his persistent claims that Wii HD is finished and ready for launch.

It is creepy that somehow people think that Nintendo _needs_ to release a HD version of the same console when it is known that xbox360 and PS3 aren't capable of running full 1080p games due to bandwidth problems.

And then ofcourse Michael Pachter the guy who apologized to Sony for being right , price drops will increase sales for the PS3. But on the Wii HD issue he is again dead wrong with his comments, when your main product is still selling releasing new hardware for the sake of new hardware in a globally declining economy is like not that smart ?

Well, at least with the Xbox, it upscales the output quite nicely to 720p/1080p. If Wii employed a similar upscaling device then I think more people would be satisfied with it. Even though it would only be 480p internally.

HD will make those insanely detailed stick figures with all those ridiculously high poly count textures pop to life. Definitely necessary.

Nintendo does have a history of completely denying something right up till they reveal it. If it is a real product we'll see more things leak out the coming time
