HelP!

There is a scary problem going on. ok i have a AIW 9800 Pro and i've had it for like 6 months now. Point is...all of sudden there is this a weird symptom occuring maybe evey 5-10 minutes for a few seconds.

You know when the picture gets stripped and squeezed a bit when you are plugging in your montor. It almost seems like lose cables are the problem here. well scratch the 5-10 mins stuff...its happening randomly now. Its weird because it almost seems like its losing signal for split seconds? I tried unplugging and plugging the cords back in but there is periods of inconsistency again. Im running at 32 bit....and i changed it from 60 Hertz to 100 Hertz and 1600X1200.

What do you guys think it is? It just started happening....and i've never seen symptoms like this before.

Not that this will help but I was at BEST BUY today and noticed all their LCD monitors doing what you are saying. It appeared to be at random also.

sometimes I come back to my computer and it reset and my monitor is at 60hz and it won't let me change it back, I have to restart my machine.

holy hell, 100hz refresh rate is way too high.

Keep it at 75hz first of all.

Now narrow down your possible sources of error such as overclocking by cancelling all overclocks on your vid card. Hell, set EVERYTHING to default values so make sure there's no overheating/overclocking issues.

Now remove all video card drivers through Control panel. Restart Windows then install the latest Catalyst drivers.

If the problem persists you've got some fluctuating power, which could be due to a loose power cable connecting to your AIW card or your PSU is going haywire.

100Hz shouldn't be too high depending on his monitor. I run my Nokia 445Pro (21" flat screen) at 1280x1024 @ 180Hz. Why? Because I have the option to. I can run it at 1600x1200 @100Hz...but that res is too small for my liking.
I also have an NEC Multisync FP1250+ that will support refresh rates that high.

Just depends on his monitor. If it's a no name crap job, then yeah...I wouldn't try 100hz at that res...70 would be a more comfortable plateau.

But I agree with you...check the connections and set all to default with fresh drivers. If that don't work, try a different monitor (if you have access to one), and if all else fails, RMA the card.
