I'm trying to figure out what monitor to buy and I heard that widescreens "stretch" images. Is this true? Because that wouldn't be good, since one of the things I'll be doing with the monitor is editing images.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide!

example:
running a 16:9 video (say a bluray or hd-dvd movie) on an lcd (which are 16:10) that does not do 1:1 pixel mapping.
The video, which is 1920x1080, would be stretched to fill 1920x1200 (24inch screen)

This has nothing to do with normal apps, get your widescreen.

It is very worthwhile to have all that extra space for image editing. btw, looking at your sig, you should also get another gig of ram, particularly if you're using things like photoshop.

Thank you very much for taking the time to reply!
I do not plan on watching movies or television on the monitor so I shouldn't have a problem!
