why would flash work in FIREFOX but not in IE6 ?

i have created slipstreams of XP sp2 & w2k sp4 with lots of registry hacks. they work perfectly except for one major problem. ie6 will not run flash, and firefox will. i gather one of my registry hacks messed up ie6 ability to run all flash sites.

i can even goto adobe's website, install flash, and it says it installled properly.

sites that work that have flash for both firefox & ie6

sites that DO NOT work for IE6 - i get the following error (there are many other sites)
"you don't have the latest version of macromedia flash player" i have checked and i do !

i've ran into this a few times on different desktops.
the flash site shows you have it installed, but no sites do.

find the flash uninstaller, run it, then reboot, go to flash.com in ie and load the new one.
should take care of the problem.
