Okay, so here I am all excited that my new monitor has arrived, but now Windows isn't giving me my native resolution in the display properties. The monitor is an Acer AL2223W, I have a BFG GeForce 7600 GT OC, and I'm running Vista (RTM). I do have the latest nVidia drivers installed. One other thing worth mentioning is that windows is not detecting my monitor as my monitor, its just detecting it as "Generic PnP Monitor"...this may or may not matter. I don't know.

Can anyone help me?

...sorry for the messy post...

Yes, that matters. See if you can dig up some drivers for your monitor from the Acer site or wherever you can find some. Once that gets done, your resolution should be fixed.

I figured out the problem.

It seems that the latest nVidia drivers for Vista on the nVidia site are crap (they don't support 1680x1050). I found newer drivers (97.46) at Guru of 3D here.

He he, thanks for the help :), but it didn't matter. Monitors don't have drivers, they just use the PnP information to let the OS know what modes they support.

Most monitors do have inf files, though. If there is one available for your monitor you should use it. I have noticed that monitors generally work and look better when you install the inf.
