Why does some riser cable has gaps in between?

I have the Lian Li one, don't buy it. It causes all of my cards to crash even when set manually to PCI-E 4.0 or 3.0. Plus the "base" where the slot for the GPU goes is extremely flimsy, I ended up cutting a big eraser into a block to go under it so it wouldn't bow inwards under the weight of the card.

The 4.0 riser cable they include with A4 H20 is widely known for poor QC.

I knew this going in. Had an expensive Linkup brand cable ready. And sure enough, I needed it.
The Lian Li cable boots fine. But, lots of hitching, in games.

You actually bought Linkup? Their customer service is outstanding. I email them a no. of times, and they always reply back. Their price is the highest at amazon. I figure a cable that c/w a box is overdone.

Yes, I am using a PCIe 5.0 Linkup riser cable in a Lian-Li A4 H20.

I also have one of these:

I got it, because I saw it being used in a youtube video from a chinese channel I like. But there was a shipping delay and the Linkup cable arrived first! So this one is a backup.
