hi guys i just started to play Hl2 but my smile turned upside down coz of this weird affect on the textures on most of the world,why am i gettin this problem when i didnt have any problems on counterstrike source??? :confused:

It's usually a good idea to list some main hardware specs of your system when asking about issues. Maybe like vid card type and driver revision used in this case.

512 2700ddr
120gig + 80gig maxtors
sapphire 9600pro @ 492/317 with vga silencer
antec lanboy and truepower 480w psu

i play the game at 800x600 with 2xAF and medium settings
also using the Ati beta hl2 drivers 4.12 and slighty old nforce drivers but i never had a problem with nforce drivers or ati ones.
 
try bringing down your overclock and trying some non-beta drivers

also, update your nforce, the new nforce betas at guru are AWESOME
 
when you change in-game AA/AF or quality settings make sure you exit the game, then come back in

sometimes if you just change a video setting and go back into the game corruption occurs

Bringing down your O/C on the card ought to help. Overclocking the memory causes texture corruption, IIRC and core OCing causes artifacting. Also try running driver cleaner and reinstalling to the latest drivers (4.11) by ATI, NOT by your card's manufacturer
 
the look in the first screenshot is really weird ;) looks like you are developing HL²...

just kidding.
But it's odd that you've got no mixed up or wird looking textures, but NO textures (depending on 1. screenie) - doesn't really look like VGA mistake...or, in fact, I never heard about something comparable
 
Well on the second screenie its like little checkerboard effect which i understand is a overclock issue,i think?? but the wired first screenie is completly off the scale in terms of my knowledge :confused: .

Iam now using the newest nforce drivers from Nvidia but the beta drivers im using are by Ati.they are the beta 4.12 which was to improve Hl2 performance and it would be weird why im getting this problem with Hl2 but not Counterstrike source???
 
this is getting annoying, is there nobody out there who can help me.ive tryed newest drivers, lowered overclock.so now i dont know what to do.

has anybody tryed out the bug report feature on HL2 and are valve responsive??
 
Some of those textures reminded me of something from a while back. When the 'leak' of HL2 was released, I loaded it up and got some of those odd purple textures. I think that's the symbol for a missing texture in the game. (Not completely sure.)

How did you get the game, through Steam or buy the retail CD? If you downloaded it, try deleting the local game content and redownloading it. It could work, but I'm not sure. If that's not the case, I don't really know what to tell you. Maybe reinstall again and hope for the best?
 
well i bought the retail DVD here in the U.K. and on tues i installed it an the tryed the huge task of activating it thru steam which it did, then it downloaded the rest 30% of the game thru steam :confused: and that too f*cking ages coz all their servers were backed up 24/7 so im not sure what i should do.

im thinkin to try the ATI 4.11 drivers and c what will hapen with those :confused:

i really dont want to install it again coz it was such a pain doing so the first time.but if it need to be done like that the ill have to reinstall.

Try to use Radeon catalyst 4.11. Beta driver usually not compatible with a new released game.
 
but didnt ATI release the newer 4.12 drivers so that HL2 would get a performance boost with ATI hardware??? or does the same apply for the 4.11 drivers??
