LOL, this is cool, i installed a RamDisk on my XP partition, set up a small 128mb ramdisk, moved my temporary internet files folder to that ramdisk.

Now surfing my regular sites is sooo much faster, also a bit faster when visiting new sites as there is no writing to harddisk.

Weee :D

Gonna try with programs too, maybe even games, only got 1gig of ram so not too big programs, if it turns out nicely im gonna get more ram, doesnt take that long filling the ramdisk at bootup, nor saving to harddisk at shutdown.

Just a whoopdeedoo, giving a heads up, it's recommended :p

try using a ramdisk with photoshop, as either your scratch disk, or install the entire program to memory, and use scratch disk in mem as well.....hehehehehe things fly!

DUde hell yeah!! I'm going to do that. I have a ramdisk program that i got from majorgeeks but i uninstalled it because i couldn't think of anything useful to put into it that was under the 512 megs i'd be willing to give it. I think i'll make it 256 though. hahah, ill be back later and let you know what i think.

sweeet, i installed the same one from that webpage. i also changed my temp internet files folder directory from IE to the ramdisk. thing is now though, when i reboot, then stuff from the backup folder doesn't reload into ramdisk, does this mean i have to reload everything back into ramdisk? it said when i installed it that it would automatically take anything from the rdbackup folder and put it into ramdisk at system boot. the only thing im required to do was to make the backup from the ramdisk into the backup folder before shutdown.

the other thing now, i made a separate backup of my temp internet files folder just in case something happened and they got deleted, well they did. should i recopy the whole folder the way it is with all the little coded subfolders into the ramdisk in the exact IE temp internet files directory, or should i extract all those files from all the subfolders and put them all in the directory together? lol, grrrr

you know, i always wondered why somebody would want 4gigs of ram in a home system, but now i can see a very good use for it.
