i dont know which 3dcard to choose

i ve got a pentium 3 450 mhz ,but ive been told it has got pb a 2x exit on my motherboard

i dont know if i can put a 8x card in it,and which card would be the best for my pc, (max 100euro)

i just want to play max payne and things like that

thank u

GeForce 2 or Radeon 7000 would be fine for Max Payne. You don't need anything more than 64mb to play that. Actaully, I think I've played MP with onboard video before, but I don't suggest trying that ;)

It will most likely not be worth it. New and old parts generally don't mix all that well.

Unfortunately, most 8x cards will only work in 1.5V and 0.8V modes. But your 2x AGP slot puts out 3.3V. This overvoltage will cause stability problems with the newer AGP cards and/or result in premature failure of your new AGP card. Furthermore, some 8x AGP cards will not even physically fit your 2x AGP slot at all, due to their lack of a 2x key.

And I've found that Max Payne will only play correctly on a 700MHz or faster system. (After all, a 300MHz or a 450MHz processor may be the minimum required processor speed for Max Payne, but the gameplay will be crappy on such systems even at the lowest supported resolution with all details turned off.) Therefore, I'd recommend that you upgrade your motherboard, processor and memory before you go ahead with your graphics card upgrade.

Most AGP 8x cards are not compatible with AGP 2x due to voltage differences. I wouldn't get more than a good AGP 4x card like a GF3 or 8500. Both are overkill for your setup, but would scale well if you upgrade that cpu. Both can be had for about $60 USD online.

Edit: Just noticed the Euro thing. I don't know about euro availability.

maybe it s better trying to use a pci card,so tere wont be voltage problems?????
