Which X1950 Pro?

I'm having to RMA my Gecube X1950 Pro because it keeps locking up my system whilst in games. This happens in every game and I have tested various catalyst drivers.

I'm not going to be overclocking. I just want something thats gonna be stable - with a good cooler and thats fast!

So its between these:

personal feelings but with this card, you really should go for the 512.. and think the sapphire card would hopefully meet your needs.
 
before you return the card as being faulty, what are you PC specs.. most importantly, what are the specs on your PSU?
 
even though that's a good power supply, according to ATI it's not quite good enough.... they recommend a 22A min for dual rail 12V PSU..

that PSU has a 18A max on the 12V..

see if you can try it out on a friends computer or something...
 
Keep going with the PSU inquiry, but for the X1950Pro, I'd suggest the Sapphire Ultimate. It's cheaper, silent, cool, and gaming at 12x10, you don't need more than 256mb. It's perfect for you (I have the same card and game at 12x10).
 
well the sapphire ultimate has 1.4ns (rated at 1600mhz) mem chips (i think the HIS card has the same thing), the ultimate comes with a zalman VF900 cu cooler, but it think the HIS card comes with a AC Silencer type solution, and the ultimate doesn't have a VIVO chip (assholes), im not sure about the HIS card but I think it does.
One thing im not sure on the HIS card is if its a reference PCB or if its VRM's are digital or analog. (analog = less touchy on overclocking).

I believe the Sapphire ultimate is the better value, but if the HIS card has VIVO and 1.4ns chips, then that may be the better one for overclocking. You don't need 512MB of mem for 12x10 resolutions.
