Building a gaming machine for a customer, kind of stuck with the choice Creative gives me in terms of which version of X-Fi to use. Any suggestions? Also, what's the big female connector on some cards for?

The X-Fi Xtreme gamer would probably be your best bet. You need to do some research into soundcards.

That Connector is an AD Link. Its used to connect the External version of the I/O Drive to the Card. If the customer isn't planning to upgrade to either Internal or External I/O drive, then the X-Fi Xtreme Gamer is the best option.
