WaterWeter=Gunk in tubes and blocks.

Zerex=More or less the same thing but as a previous thread shows, it leaves behind some crystals.... err not so good for the STORM is it? :)

Anti-Freeze (5-10%) + Distilled Water=Probably the best solution?

I'd personally only keep distilled water / anti freeze in the tubes. If it gets grimy, just empty it out and re do it. :) Better than some cheap add in solution that really doesn't do jack.

From my reading, the best stuff to use is just water/anti-freeze.
The best anti-freeze is Pentosin. It's blue, and has anti-foaming additives (good thing).

You don't need much a/f really. Just a little is enough to kill any sort of biological activity. I'm using plain Distilled water right now for testing, and then am going to syphon off a bit of my water in my system, and replace it with pentosin down the road.

As for dyes and whatnot, it's your choice on that. To be honest, I'm just happy with the blue that pentosin provides.

Pentosin it is then, wasnt that mentioned somewhere else. Thats the Audi stuff I think.

What diffrent is it between Pentosin and Propylene glycol?? i have never heard of pentosin and it is not in any dictionarys I have looked in.

Found that Pentosin is just a brand name, can you look whats inside the bottles??

Have anti-freeze any bad sides??
Is there anything bad about using anti-freeze?? And is the anti-freeze you all talk about normal Ethylene glycol ( C2H4O + H2O → HOCH2CH2OH )
Can it react to plastic, silicone or anything else in the system??
Have it any effect on ?surface tention? (the thing that causes bubles to stay in water and insects to walk on water, don't know what its called in english)

as far as I know its poisonous and smells abit, also I think viscosity is increased but you gain prevention of corrusion and bugs.

I'm not 100% on the chemical makeup of Pentosin.

Ethelyne Gycol is the stuff in MOST anti-freezes (not the non-toxic ones). THe main reason to use it is for anti-biological activity, as well as corrosion inhibition. The side effect is that you get a cool color in your water, such as blue for pentosin.

I'm a litle negative to use glycol, if you get one drop of it inside you you will die if you don't go to your hospital and replace you liver. Humans and dogs are the only creatures you can save after eating glycol. And the chance to survive is, well not 100%.

I think that Pentosin looks pretty slick...

Anyone have any advice as to where I might be able to find some? I searched on NAPA, AutoZone, and Checker/Schucks/Kragen websites, and I didn't find anything.

Do I have to go to an Audi dealer or something?

hmmm well the idea is to put a little in the cooling loop of the computer please do NOT drink it.

I have run plain steam distilled water with in my machine for 3 years without any additive and have had no issues. Everything was new and clean when I first installed it, and I do not have a window in the case. My tubing is still as clear as the day I installed it. Its an all copper copper/brass system with clear PVC tubing. Pumps are designed to be lubricated by the water and do not need any other crap in the loop. If you have a window some anti-fungal drops from a pet store to prevent alge growth in fish tanks would be fine.

My setup will be 100% copper/brass with no alluminium what so ever.

Bullshit. 1 drop will not kill you. And especially since you are diluting it down in this case

The very small amounts of ethylene glycol that could be tasted or otherwise accidentally eaten (for example, by putting your fingers in your mouth) in situations other than intentionally or accidentally drinking ethylene glycol are not likely to cause serious illness or death. Moreover, in cases that involve eating or drinking large amounts of ethylene glycol, antidotal treatment after early diagnosis has been very successful.

Koponen has testified that it takes only 100 milliliters—or 3.4 ounces—of ethylene glycol to kill most humans.
