Which setting is better ??????

I just upgraded my xp2500+ barton to x2 3800+ with GA-K8N51GMF-9 board using my old PC2700 dual channel DDR.

I can set the FSB to

1. 240MHZ x 10 = 2400MHZ, HTT = 1200, DDR = 400MHZ passed 5 hour of HOTCPU
2. 250MHZ x 10 = 2500MHZ, HTTx4 = 1000, DDR = 333MHZ

Which setting will be better, 250 with HTT 1000 & DDR = specs or 240 with everything up?

Thanks,

how about

270x9 with a DDR300 or 150mhz divider... give your DDR400 and 2430 cpu
315x8 with a DDR250 divier = 2520 cpu 193mhz RAM (best option)
but HTT doesnt matter....1200v1000 you cant use the bandwidth anyways.. its like 3 gigs a second..

but 2500 CPU v 2400 CPU is a big diff...

but i think the diff btwn ddr400 and ddr333 is a bigger difference..

but my soultion is almost halfway between the 2 options

Adidas,
I want the most out of what I have, everything is stock.
Stock heatsink, PC2700 and the K8N51GMF-9 doesn't have voltage options at all, only HTT multiplier, DDR ram 133, 166 detect from SPD.
I tried all the combination:

1. 240 x10, HTT = x5 , DDR 389 MHZ. solid
2. 250 x10, HTT = x5, DDR 408MHZ, boot, application OK, hang on racing games after 10min.
3. 260 x10, HTT = x3, x4, DDR 333 MHZ, blue screen
4. 250 x10, HTT = x4, DDR 408MHZ boot, application OK, hang on games
5. Final version passed 5 hrs on HOTCPU
250 x 10 = 2500, HTT = x4 = 1000, DDR PC2700 @ 166MHZ. I'm sticking with this since the tested performance on DVDLABPRO & DVDshrink is the fastest.

x2 3800+ / xp2500+ with the same hard drive/dvd burner
DVDshrink 8.5GB to 4.7GB = 10minutes/ 17minutes
DVDdecrypter 8.5GB = 9minutes/15minutes
DVDlabpro 8.3GB with motion menu = 24 minutes/34minutes

Full load the CPU temp = 37 C max. Very cool, light load only 30-32

I'm happy with the upgrade.

this is your best... however you should plan in the future to buy a minimum of pc3200 ram and you will get much more out of your OC

but it looks good...

hey i like you XP shrink times... i am builing a 2800+ barton with a asrock matx board to run an ORB media server so this give me a good idea for its decoding power...

I would start off from the begining...find max overclock on chip, then max fsb on board.

Normally i found that tigher timings work better for games....this is only my own personal results.

Its all trial and error....benchmarking in between and time will yield best results.

I don't know how these bench marks are tested, but here what I found with all the trial & error:

DVD Shrink on 8GB-4.7GB:

250x10, HTT= 4x250=1000, DDR 333 = 11m35sec
200x10, HTT= 5x200=1000, DDR 333 = 11m34sec

DVD decrypter:
250x10, HTT= 4x250=1000, DDR 333 = 11m05sec
200x10, HTT= 5x200=1000, DDR 333 = 11m04sec

DVDLABPRO:
250x10, HTT = 4x250=1000, DDR 333 = 6m35sec 2.2GB compile DVD
200x10, HTT = 5x200=1000, DDR 333 = 6m34sec 2.2GB compile DVD

SATA-150 8MB 7200RPM = 58MB/sec on both setting WDC 120GB.
SATA-300 16MB 7200RPM = 69MB/sec on both setting SEAGATE 400GB.

It's dependent on what you use your system for, the FSB performance may change according to different applications.

Cheers,
