I downloaded core temp and it says my temps are around 60C. Easytune tells me they are around 50C. Which one of these applications do I believe?? I'm confused about this.

e6300
gigabyte ds3

I'm looking for someone who has used both of these programs. I'm just a little bit confused about the discrepancy.

same here core temp reads 46C while easytune and speedfan reads 41C .

Core Temp is more accurate since it's taking the temp reading very close to the core where it is the hottest.

Well historically people have been reading the reading from their motherboard, like speedfan, etc... so if you Apples to Apples use that.

Core 2 runs cooler so the 50C compared to the prescotts that used to run at 60C, etc...

CoreTemp is going to show you a temp probably 10+ higher. So you shouldn't be scared of a 60C temp reading there. Just imagine what CoreTemp would have read on a Pentium D 840.... maybe 80C !?!

My max temps with CoreTemp have been like 62, maybe 63C. And thats fine. Now if your speed fan temp was 60C, I'd say you need to work on better cooling or lower your clock.

Great, just the reply I was looking for. I hit 46c in speedfan but 58c in coretemp under a load. I have some pretty good aircooling and a si-120 so I didnt think I should worry. I guess all the people saying "dont let it get above 55-60c are using mobo temps.

SPeedfan is probably reading your motherboard temperatures while coretemp is reading the CPU..

Speedfan will read both. You can tell which one is the CPU by which one fluctuates very rapidly with load / idle.

With Speedfan & the DS3 for me Temp 2 was the CPU temp. Temp 1 is a motherboard temp, what temp... I'm not sure. One person said its the southbridge.

Core Temp is the real temp. Should not exceed 70C for safe operation IMO.

All the other programs -- don't go over 55*C max of max Temp.
